Fascinating location - the lighthouse is enormous compared to more modern structures and the windrose was fascinating - references to all the remaining Celtic areas - Galicia, Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Brittany, Man, Ireland but because the reference was in Gaelic (I guess) locations like Kernow and Alba may have confused.

473 steps to the top (I think lol) in three levels. Plenty of resting and passing places on the way up and down. Last lot of stairs is spiral. Well worth the walk as the views are fantastic. Plenty of information in English too explaining about the origins. Free to EU Citizens or €3 per Person for non EU Visitors. Waist high wall at the top without railings so not good for vertigo but to please railings there would ruin the structure. You can walk there from the Port which takes about 3/4 to get there by foot.

This place has been on my bucket-list for as long as I can remember. I wasn't disappointed. Fascinating piece of architecture with a checkered and sometimes mysterious history.

Great views from the top, beautiful seaside vistas from the bottom of the tower too. Nearby park/playground, public restrooms, and rocks to climb on below with gorgeous sealife if you're so inclined. However, the tower is not wheelchair accessible at all from what I've seen, and the stairs to the top are very cramped at times. You don't have to go all the way up to get good views though.
